Have Your Say

Help shape the art for Cornhill

A new public artwork is being proposed for Cornhill, the pedestrian street alongside the indoor market on the route up to Market Square in Chelmsford city centre. The three-dimensional artwork will sit in the air space above the street, where people can enjoy looking up, helping to lift the experience of being in the area.

We want the ideas behind it to come from the people who know this place. We're asking for your stories and memories of the street and surrounding area. What you share feeds directly to the public artists working closely with the community to shape the final design.

Why we're asking

The artwork will be present for years to come. Although it sits in one small street, we want it to reflect what local people across Chelmsford are proud of: our history, our places, and what holds the city together. That's why a few questions ask about Chelmsford as a whole. Your voice goes straight to the artists designing it, Lu Williams and Public Art Works. Read about the project.

Who can take part?

Anyone who lives in, works in, or visits Chelmsford: residents, visitors and traders alike. We're especially keen to hear from people who use Cornhill and Market Square, and who remember how the area has changed.
