About this project
Chelmsford City Council has commissioned artists to create a new public artwork for the Cornhill area — decorating the space above Cornhill, which leads to Market Square, in the city centre. Rather than decide what it should be behind closed doors, we're asking the people who know it best.
We believe the best artworks transform a space in a way that benefits residents and visitors. We want you to help us shape it.
The artists
Lu Williams
Essex-based artist Lu Williams creates sculptures, zines and socially engaged projects. They'll be on the ground asking residents, visitors and traders what kind of public work they'd like to see in the area — through workshops, public discussions and online contributions, like this website. luwilliams.com
Public Art Works
Aprille McShane and architect Tony Broomhead of Public Art Works bring together over 25 years of experience in the conception, design and delivery of high-quality public art projects. Aprille and Tony will create the final design, and want to be inspired by your contributions. publicartworks.co.uk

We read every response and look for the themes, places and memories that matter most to local people. Those themes are shared with the artists and designers working on the artwork. Your answers are anonymous — see our privacy page for the details.
